Speaker David Margolies

About the speaker:
David Margolies was a member of the collective responsible for the journal Red Letters, published from 1976 to 1991

He is Emeritus Professor of English at Goldsmiths, University of London.

David  has written widely on British Marxist cultural criticism including editing Culture as Politics: Selected Writings of Christopher Caudwell (2018) and Writing the Revolution: Cultural Criticism from Left Review (1988) and also on English Renaissance literature, including Novel and Society in Elizabethan England (1985), Monsters of the Deep: Social Dissolution in Shakespeare’s Tragedies (1992) and Shakespeare’s Irrational Endings: The Problem Plays (2012)

He has lectured and taught at the University of Essex, State University of New York and Morgan State University.
