Based on extensive research in Russian archives, the talk will explore Ehrenburg’s role as an international peace activist. It will cast new light on his biography and the history of the postwar peace movement, and on Moscow’s relations with the World Peace Council, which were far from simple.

Geoff Roberts is a Member of the Royal Irish Academy, Emeritus Professor of History at University College Cork. Latest books: Stalin’s Library: A Dictator and his Books (2022) and Wartime Letters: Kathleen Hariman (2026)
